Taxonomy

The genus Meranoplus was established by Smith (1853) and is assigned to the tribe Meranoplini. The Oriental species were revised by Schödl (1998).

Distribution

One species has so far been found from Vietnam.

Bionomics

Meranoplus bicolor inhabits open lands, grasslands and sparse forests, and nests in soil. Workers forage on the ground.
