(Subfamily Myrmicinae)


The genus Calyptomyrmex was established by Emery (1887), and the Oriental species were revised by Baroni Urbani (1975) and the Ethiopian species by Bolton (1981).

One species has been known from Vietnam.

Calyptomyrmex sp. eg-1 nests in rotting/rotten twigs and wood fragments on the floor of well-developed forests. The colony is usually small (consisting of dozens of workers).
